    Turtle Season

Thursday, June 5, 2008, 08:26 PM EST [General]

Well, Turtle season has started here on our property. Painted turtles migrate from the pond up onto our property to lay eggs. This is an annual event here, but never have we found 3 turtles together laying eggs. We usually mark the nests with a flag or a stake, to make sure that we don't run them over with the tractor or mowers. Personally, we have never seen a nest hatch. Although they must in order to keep up the population here.

Snappers prefer the pond area to lay their eggs, so we don't see them as much. When we do, they get a wide birth. They bite!!!!!! Some of the larger snappers can take off fingers and toes. As well as make meals out of the baby geese and ducklings. This year I think the ducks have giving up on making their nests near the pond. Tired of losing babies.......The geese however, remain stubborn. We'll see how many survive this year.

    Changes

Friday, April 18, 2008, 07:10 AM EST [General]

It's been a while since I've blogged...... So many changes going on here, lifestyle, eating, the way I percieve myself, health.

Last year at this time, I was concidering having a gastric bypass. My health was bad, and because of disabilities, it's hard to exercise, when you have limited use of your lower body. Hips, legs, knees....

My Doc put into this wonderful program, it's based on the book," Intuitive eating" By Tribole & Resch. It has changed my life. It's not a diet, nothing is restricted, or forbidden. You change the way you eat, and the way you see food. If you're tired of diets....and yes, there is a reson diets fail. Why you gain the weight back. Read the book....

     I won't digress further.

I've lost 27 lbs so far, and I decided that I'm not going though with the bypass. I stand on the scale, in disbelief. Why couldn't I have found this after the accident when I started to gain weight? Well, all things happen in time.

As part of the program, I found a trainer, that was willing to work with someone with disabilities. He showed me things I can do, some were hard at first. In time, they're becoming easier. I now have a regular workout routine, as it gets easier, I add. The next thing I've explored, is some yoga. Soon I will add that to my routine.

I feel better. I have more energy, and a 14 yo to keep up with. I've found that I can do more around the house and yard. Even contemplating a garden, for food and herbs. Although I can't afford the "Organic" certification, I do grow my herbs organic. In the past I've talked to some local shops that may be interested in fresh herbs. We'll see. I can at least restock my cupboard.

Ostara and Beltaine are a time of changes, so these are some of mine.. I continue to make more......

Thanks to all for the support in seeing me though this time

The only constant in life, is change...

    Blessings to all,

    Happy Thanksgiving

Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 01:35 PM EST [General]

I wish everyone who happens upon my pages and Blog a wonderfully Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. It is a time a community, family, and  friends.

At my house it will be small, my husband, daughter and my Mother. Our families are scattered, and with schedules sometimes it is hard to get everyone under the same roof.

Even if you feel you don't have anyone to share it with. Know I will be here, and I will light a candle for all those alone on this day, in rememberance of family and times past.

    Blessings to all,

    Kiree
